Kids’ Fun Run with K163

Sunday 19 March 2017 from 10am-1pm

The Kids’ Fun Run with K163 is an annual event that encourages “kids running for kids.” It is put on by Rotary of Mt Eliza who have partnered with the Mornington Railway. The event is held at the Moorooduc Railway Station. There are multiple fun runs where kids run alongside the historic steam train K163 on a running track. It’s a family fun day – there are also activities like a petting zoo, face painting, food and drinks.

Kids sign up online and are encouraged to get sponsorship to raise funds to help kids at Frankston Hospital. Kids running for kids. The sign up for the 2017 Kids’ Fun Run with K163 is now open (early bird registration fee of $20).

Last year was the first year and was a huge success! The Rotary raised roughly $20,000 for the Paediatrics Ward at Frankston Hospital. Frankston Hospital Paediatrics bought 5 state of the art child friendly beds with it. Here is the latest story on how the beds are helping patients:

This year the event is raising funds for an infant transport incubator for the Special Care Nursery at Frankston Hospital. The infant transport incubator is a life saving piece of equipment that keeps babies warm when being transported throughout the hospital for treatments. Sick and premature babies aren’t able to keep themselves warm enough and risk serious complications like hypothermia. Our goal is $20,000.
