SUMMARY:Michael Vale: the Cuckoo\, the Herring\, and the Trembling Tambouri
 nes
DESCRIPTION:Michael Vale is a Melbourne-based artist whose practice brings
together Romantic traditions\, absurdist theatre\, dark fiction and a mi
schievous sense of humour. Over several decades\, he has developed a dis
tinctive visual language that fuses the grandeur of dramatic landscapes w
ith the unexpected presence of surreal and often comical figures. His pa
intings and installations are populated with spectral characters\, carto
onish costumes\, and shadowy\, theatrical backdrops that unsettle as much
as they amuse.\n\nVisit the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery websit
 e for more details.
